A paradigm shift in dual comb spectroscopy

This is a potential paradigm shift in frequency metrology: one unstabilized laser is enough

by Benjamin Willenberg

Dual comb spectroscopy with a free-running semiconductor disk laser: a single free-running compact optically pumped MIXSEL simultaneously generates two coherent mode-locked pulse trains which are used to demonstrate accurate dual-comb gas spectroscopy with sub-millisecond acquisition times.
